FRUITA, Colo. (KREX) — The City of Fruita for the third year in a row awarded Grand Valley Pets Alive a grant to control the cat overpopulation in the 81521 zip code.
The 2024 grant was worth $6,000
GVPA has used or allocated all $6,000 of the grant, awarded by the City of Fruita, and there is now a waiting list for help. GVPA officials say that list is getting longer every day. Only about $700 remains in the Pets for Vets fund.
Pets for Vets helps Mesa County veterans or active duty service members spray or neuter their dogs, cats or rabbits.
