GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Friday morning, Thrailkill appeared back in court for a preliminary hearing to determine if there is enough probable cause to go to trial. All witnesses and potential witnesses were asked to leave the courtroom, including Thrailkill's grandmother. Both sides questioned Kristine Gregory, the responding officer at the time of the incident, and seven years later, the lead investigator on his case. Gregory also wrote Thrailkill's arrest warrant and accompanied him as he was extradited. Dean Havlik, the Mesa County coroner who has completed 4,100 examinations, also testified. Both witnesses discussed injuries and timelines that show probable cause to put Thrailkill on trial. Trial dates are set for October, but Thrailkill will appear back in court in June.
