GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — At about 2:30 a.m., the Grand Junction Police and Fire departments responded to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of North Avenue and Interstate 70B.
The vehicle hit a light pole at the intersection and when officers arrived, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. Grand Junction Fire Department extinguished the fire.
One person was found dead in the vehicle; two other passengers were taken to the hospital with suspected serious bodily injuries. Alcohol is suspected as being a contributing factor in this crash.
The Mesa County Coroner's Office will be responsible for releasing the identity of the deceased after family members have been notified. This incident remains under investigation and there is no further information available at this time.
