GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — An upcoming groundbreaking ceremony is just the start of a new location which will create jobs and increase health care access, according to MarillacHealth.
The groundbreaking ceremony at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 22, at its new health center site, 512 29 1/2 Road in Grand Junction. The building is north of the Mesa County Workforce Center.
MarillacHealth is a nonprofit that operates the Community Health Center which serves Mesa and Montrose counties.
“This is a perfect location to place a health center that can be on a campus-like setting with employment and training services, public health, WIC and other social services,” Marillac's CEO Kay Ramachandran said.
The nonprofit bought the land from Mesa County in January. Construction will begin this summer with the clinic planned to be open in late summer 2025.
The building will be designed for medical, dental and behavioral health services, as well as host a drive-through pharmacy.
Marillac has also partnered with CMU Tech, which will have an office, classroom and clinic training resources for its dental hygienists training program.
Marillac said around 2000 to 3000 more people will have better access to health care for residents
