GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — For the first time since 2019, the City of Grand Junction hosted an impact fee meeting Thursday morning at the Grand Junction Fire Department.

City of Grand Junction Community Development Director Tamra Allen defines an impact fee.

"An impact fee would be paid and is currently being paid, on a per-unit basis. For example, for a new housing unit that comes in."

The fees collected go into a fund that would then be distributed to areas of need.

Right now, the city uses the funds collected to help fund transportation, the fire, the police and the parks departments.

Funds made from the fee can only be used for capital capacity expansion for those different categories.

The city plans on meeting again on this subject sometime in mid to late August.
