GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Despite minimal rainfall this summer, the Colorado River is maintaining average water pressure. Sandbags are being placed behind Las Colonias Park to dry up the river.
The City of Grand Junction emphasizes the importance of keeping the sandbags in place to help reintroduce and preserve endangered fish species. U.S. Fish and Wildlife are working to rehabilitate these fish and preserve the river stretch. The sandbags will remain until the end of October, and citizens are urged to leave them in place.
