DELTA, Colo. (KREX) - It's been a quarter of a century since Valley Youth Orchestra (VYO) started and it looks like the nonprofit has no sign of slowing down.
VYO, which creates orchestra experiences for young musicians from Delta, Montrose, Mesa and Ouray counties, will hold auditions on Saturday for the 2024-25 season at the Delta Family Center, 822 Grand Ave. Auditions are for kids ages 8 to 18 who have one year of private instruction.
“We enter this year with gratitude for those who built the foundation. This organization has passed the test of time because of dedicated students, families and generous donors. We look forward to new partnerships and student musicians in our 25th year,” VYO Director Laura Payne said in a press release.
This year's concerts will include specially commissioned pieces by area composers Anwen Borgo and Nathan Howe, VYO said in a press release. There will be a side-by-side concert with the VYO Chamber Orchestra and Valley Symphony Association on March 30-31, 2025.
