MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) — According to AAA booking data, nationwide Labor Day travel is up 9% compared to last year, meaning millions will be on the road.
Colorado State Patrol Trooper Sherri Mendez says with that many people on the road, drivers should be mindful of not only their driving habits but others as well.
"Drivers should familiarize themselves with the areas they are traveling. They should check the weather conditions, and they should get rid of all distractions so they can arrive at their destination safely."
CSP investigated 53 serious injury crashes from Memorial Day until Labor Day weekend. Most of those crashes were caused by distractions.
