DELTA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) - A U.S. Navy veteran who has "a wealth of knowledge and experience" was named the new Delta County Health Department environmental health director.
Delta County announced Friday that Samantha Traubel will take over the role. She was recently the health department's environmental health specialist.
"I am honored and excited for the opportunity to continue to work alongside community partners and members in a shared commitment to health,” Traubel said in a press release. “Collaboration is the foundation to advancing our shared goal of a healthier, safer environment."
Traubel has a master's degree in public health and science health informatics analytics from the University of Arizona. She was also a culinary specialist for 10 years in the Navy.
The county said in the release "Sam brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the field of public health."
“Samantha's commitment to environmental health is evident,” Jacqueline Davis, director of public health, said in the release. “Her passion and proactive approach to working closely with community members, businesses, and local organizations, all while promoting health and safety initiatives, is unmatched and will prove to be a great benefit for Delta County.
