GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — In honor of National Workforce Development Month, Mesa County Workforce Center has scheduled several events to help those looking for work find a job.

The first event, a job fair prep workshop, will kick off Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Mesa County Workforce Center. The 2024 Job Fair will be taking place Sept. 17 from 1-4 p.m. at the Workforce Center.

District 51 students will also be able to take part in Workforce Development Month with a day dedicated to them. D51 Development Day will take place Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Grand Junction Convention Center.

Assistant Director of Career and College Readiness for D51 Andrea Bolton says the district will be bussing about 1,400 juniors to the convention center. Bolton says it's a chance to prepare students for work.

"Our goal here is to have an event that hosts all the students and provides access to a really rigorous career exploration activity," Bolton said.

Events wrap up Sept. 25 with an open house at the Workforce Center from 2-4 p.m.
