Former Palisade High band teacher enters guilty plea

MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) - On Thursday, ex-Palisade High School band teacher Jeffrey Mason entered a guilty plea to two counts of official misconduct.

Mason, 47, entered a deferred sentence. His sentencing hearing will occur at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Mason was arrested in November 2023 for sexually harassing a former student. He was accused of violating Title IX by giving the student unwanted hugs, visiting their home without their parents' knowledge, buying them gifts and food, giving them rides in his car and lying in a hotel bed with his legs wrapped around the student during a school trip.
