Montrose PD adds 5 new officers

MONTROSE, Colo. (KREX) — The Montrose Police Department introduced five new officers to its ranks Monday.

According to the City of Montrose, these new officers - Charles Hunt, Tim Long, Thomas Morgan, Jaroden Siedschlag and Keegan Walchle - help fill vacant positions. They were officially sworn in during Tuesday's city council meeting.

“We are so excited to be hiring new police officers, and so many,” Montrose Police Chief Blaine Hall said in a press release. “This group is filled with both new officer cadets and experienced police officers. They are a great addition to our team and will add to our goals towards increasing public safety in our community.”

The city noted the new officers are recent graduates of the Western Colorado Law Enforcement Academy or lateral hires to the department.

“We are one of the most fortunate police departments in the nation with the amount of community support we receive. We are always striving to live up to the community’s expectations, and these new officers will help us keep our community safe," Hall said.
