GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) - The Orchard Mesa Community Pool will continue operating for at least the next two years.
The Grand Junction City Council and Mesa County Valley School District 51 Board of Education announced Friday they signed a joint agreement to keep the pool open through December 2026.
"We are grateful for our partnership with the City of Grand Junction and their collaboration throughout this process," District 51 Superintendent Dr. Brian Hill said in the press release. "Together, our organizations and governing bodies worked toward a collaborative agreement that prioritizes community needs while being fiscally responsible."
Grand Junction Mayor Abram Herman said, “The City of Grand Junction is appreciative of our partners at Mesa County Valley School District 51 and to continue operation of the Orchard Mesa Community Pool to serve the community. This agreement reflects the commitment to providing recreational spaces for families, children and seniors while anticipating the opening of the new Community Recreation Center in 2026.”
The city said in the release that continuing operations gives both entities time to plan for the future.
