MESA, Colo. (KREX) — With the fall colors showing, Powderhorn Mountain Resort has scheduled this weekend to be the annual Color Weekend on the Grand Mesa.
Chairlift rides will cost $19 and will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
When asked what their plans are at the resort for the new season, Palisade residents Laura and Sue said "Well... enjoying the fall colors!"
"(We're) going on a little hike, Mesa Top Trail and hopefully see some wildlife, but the main thing are the leaves. It's just so beautiful up here."
Assistant General Manager for Powderhorn Mountain Resort Ryan Robinson says the best way to surround yourself in the fall colors is to ride the chairlift. Although sunny skies are in the forecast, the weather sometimes can be unpredictable. Ryan says, "Weather can change quickly. Dress in layers (and) bring good footwear."
If you prefer staying at the base, you can expect food and live music with Stone Kitchen Band and Bell Creek Band on Saturday and Roy Broadbooks and The Jeff Rice Band on Sunday.
