GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Colorado is home to tall mountains, wild horses and much more; but a new survey has Coloradans concerned that it could be home to a rising use of cocaine among adults.

Colorado has topped the list of all 50 states, in consumption of the drug.

According to new data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, about 3% of Colorado adults recently used cocaine between 2021 and 2022.

HomewardBound of the Grand Valley has been offering recovery-based programming since the end of 2020. It was the first homeless shelter in the state to offer residential treatment for substance use.

HomewardBound Chief Advancement Officer Amber Henning talks about the program and how it could help you.

"We really are trying to make sure that people really have an environment where they can grow and not only grow based on how somebody else is telling them to grow, but to do it in their own direction, to build their own path, because everyone's path is going to be different and it's going to be a long hard journey. So, you need to be able to get the tools to create that path for yourself."

If you or someone you know is looking for help with substance abuse issues, call HomewardBound at (970) 256-9424.
