PALISADE, Colo. (KREX) - A report of shots fired in Palisade began with law enforcement finding a woman shot in the chest and ended with a high-speed chase near Delta.
According to the Palisade Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of West Third Street around 11:20 p.m., Tuesday. After arriving on the scene, police reportedly found a crash near the Golden Gate gas station where they discovered a woman with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Mesa County deputies pursued the suspect allegedly leaving the scene and heading toward Delta. Law enforcement placed spike strips which were used to stop the driver.
The driver was taken into custody and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility.
Police did not give the suspect's name or the woman's condition after the incident.
The Palisade Police Department, Mesa County Sheriff's Office, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the District Attorney's Office are currently investigating the incident.
