PALISADE, Colo. (KREX) - In an announcement Friday, Palisade's Colorado Vineyard Specialists LLC was named one of three recipients of a clean energy grant.

The Palisade business was awarded $96,222 which will go toward purchasing and installing a 66.36-kilowatt photovoltaic solar project. The equipment is expected to save $6,830 per year.

Gov. Jared Polis, who announced the grant recipients, said the awards were made by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The funding comes from the Inflation Reduction Act which allows rural business owners to access clean energy through the Rural Energy for American Program.

“These new grants from the Biden-Harris administration are helping small businesses in rural communities across Colorado tap into the economic benefits of clean energy, which will help lower energy costs and support business owners in reinvesting these savings into growing businesses while creating jobs and contributing to Colorado’s economy,” Polis said in a press release.

"CDA is working with producers, workers, and businesses across Colorado to open new markets and expand local processing, train the next generation of ag leaders, advance animal health and welfare and grow soil, water, and climate stewardship,” Agriculture Commissioner Kate Greenberg said in a press release.

The other recipients are:

  • Carbondale Storage LLC which received $208,146.
  • Stapp Toyota out of Frederick which was awarded $357,179.
