DENVER (KDVR) -- The University of Colorado Buffaloes announced a special line of apparel for the school's 100-year-old superfan Peggy.
Peggy Coppom has faithfully cheered on the Buffs with her twin sister since they were 15 years old. The pair, known by fans as “the twins” were season ticket holders since 1958. While Coppom’s sister, Betty Hoover, passed in 2020, Coppom continues an almost-perfect attendance record as one of the Buffs’ biggest fans.
Coppom, who turned 100 on Tuesday, received many birthday wishes from the football team, as she was brought a cake during the Big Noon Kickoff pregame show and serenaded "Happy Birthday" by thousands of fans on Saturday's game.
"I just thank God for my life and for all the friends and for everything that's happened to me. I just wish my twin sister were here," said Coppom at the press conference. "I can't deny that we've been loyal fans, but I get to get all this attention for just having a good time."
But that wasn't the only gift for Peggy or the rest of the CU fans.
On Coppom's birthday on Tuesday, she joined head coach Deion Sanders in a press conference about the Buffs’ continued win streak and how they can stay ahead in the last two regular-season games.
However, before Sanders got down to business, he announced that the super fan would have a special line of apparel where the proceeds would go to her and her family.
Peggy was wearing the gold pullover in the press conference, which is now for sale on the Buffs' website. The "Peggy100" line includes items like gold long-sleeve t-shirt and pullover with the Buffs logo on the front, and Peggy's face on the sleeve. There are also hats and other long-sleeve options. Fans can also buy the items at some local sporting good stores.
Coppom has already secured what is believed to be the first name, image and likeness brand deal for a fan. Coppom is the face of Blender’s Eyewear’s newest product. The sunglasses sleeve features Peggy and her signature gold pom poms.
