Western Slope food bank recognized

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Distributing over 24,000 meals a day the Food Bank of the Rockies plays a pivotal role in the community, helping those in need and providing material goods and programs to people of all ages.

AARP Colorado recognized the food bank back in September. when they accepted the Community Partner Award. They were recognized again at an event this week, highlighting the efforts of their volunteers who provide invaluable support with a positive and professional attitude.

Director of Food Bank of the Rockies Sue Ellen Rodwick talked with WesternSlopeNow about the recognition and the volunteer who was highlighted for her work.

"Geneva Marshall is amazing. She coordinates the Western Slope volunteers for AARP. So, whether it's for events or they're doing a holiday project, partnering with one of our nonprofit organizations here to reach some vulnerable older adults."

The food bank has been working with the AARP since the pandemic and is always looking for more volunteers.
