FRUITA, Colo. (KREX) - The Fruita Community Center's indoor pool is temporarily closed following an incident early Thursday.
The closure stems from a pair of tempered glass goggles that broke in the pool. The Fruita Parks and Recreation Department said the shattered remains affect guests' safety and could harm the filtration and mechanical systems that circulate the water.
Due to these "unforeseen circumstances," staff will drain the pool and thoroughly clean both the pool and deck, according to parks and rec.
"We’re committed to reopening as soon as possible while maintaining safety standards," Fruita Parks and Recreation posted on Facebook. "As a reminder, please avoid bringing glass items, including goggles, into the pool area. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding."
Despite the closure, the hot tub will remain open. For updates on the indoor pool, call the front desk at 970-858-0360.
