DENVER (KDVR) — A continuing investigation into an incident that sent several University of Colorado Boulder students to the hospital reported "extreme alcohol consumption" and some of them using drugs as the reasons behind their sickness.

Boulder police initially believed tainted drugs were the factor behind the violent illness based on evidence gathered at the scene and used naloxone, an overdose reversal drug, during their response.

But, as police have continued to investigate, they said it does not appear that fentanyl was involved.

Cocaine recovered at the scene by detectives is being tested for inconsistencies.

Detectives are seeking cooperation from the members of the Kappa Sigma fraternity to investigate whether the actions leading to the incident were related to the fraternity.

All students are reported to be in stable condition after one student's initial prognosis was grave.

Furthermore, Boulder PD updated its initial report to say that only five men were treated.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective Fue Her at HerF@bouldercolorado.gov or 303-441-1829. Anyone with any video or photo evidence is asked to upload it to this location.
