GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) - Four juveniles were detained and released following a toy gun incident Friday afternoon.
Around 1:55 p.m., Grand Junction Police Department officers responded to a report of possible shots fired near 25 and Patterson roads. Law enforcement was told occupants of a car traveling northbound potentially fired a gun near a person sitting on a bench at the GVT West Transfer Facility, 614 24 1/2 Road.
Officers later found the vehicle at Goodwill, 630 24 1/2 Road., where the four juveniles were contacted. Authorities learned the youths fired cap guns out of the car window toward the GVT building.
The kids were detained and released to their parents after questioning as no charges were filed. There were also no injuries in the incident.
"The Grand Junction Police Department would like to remind parents to talk to their children about the dangers of weapons, real or simulated," the police department said in the press release. "This is believed to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public. There is no further information available at this time."
