PALISADE, Colo. (KREX) - A third arrest was made earlier this month in connection to an Oct. 8 shooting in Palisade, the Palisade Police Department announced Thursday.

Darren Dwayne Kropf, 32, was arrested on Dec. 8 by Montrose County Sheriff's deputies- at the request of Palisade PD - for an active warrant for his alleged role in a shooting and robbery.

Kropf is facing multiple charges including:

  • Aggravated robbery with a simulated weapon (a Class 3 felony)
  • First-degree assault with a deadly weapon (Class 3 felony)
  • Robbery aggravated menace victim with weapon-attempt (Class 4 felony)
  • Felon Menacing with real/simulated weapon (Class 5 felon)

Delta resident Zachary Bayhan, 27, and 32-year-old Jamie Hooper were arrested last month in what Palisade PD categorized as "a drug deal gone bad."

The three suspects are believed to have played a role in the shooting of a 54-year-old woman who was left in critical condition. The woman was shot in the shoulder and crashed her car at the Golden Gate Gas Station on Elberta Avenue. She is expected to recover.

Initial reports said Bayhan and Hooper wanted drugs from the victim with the intent of not paying the woman. Kropf's role wasn't specified in the press release.

Hooper and Bayhan reportedly arranged for an unnamed 26-year-old man to introduce them to the 54-year-old woman.

Law enforcement believes Bayhan allegedly shot the woman as she drove away. He then stole the 26-year-old's car and started a high-speed chase that ended in his arrest in Delta County.

The Palisade Police Department and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation worked together on this investigation.
