GEORGETOWN, Colo. (KREX) - Anyone on the Western Slope who was planning on going to Denver for New Year's may want to reconsider their plan or at least plan to wait for a while.
The Colorado State Patrol reported a multi-vehicle crash occurred around 12:45 p.m., Tuesday, on the eastbound lanes of U.S. Interstate 70 before Georgetown. The road reopened around 3:10 p.m.
CSP said several people involved were transported to hospitals with injuries - the extent is unknown at this time.
Investigators of the crash believe that nine cars were involved, one of which was a semi hauling several vehicles. The cars being hauled are not included in the total amount of involved vehicles, according to CSP.
The interstate is closed eastbound at Silverthorne; westbound lanes are still open. Tow trucks have been dispatched to the scene.
