GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — As the clock ticks by, a new year approaches with new opportunities and new beginnings. Several people are gearing up to party.

The Theatre Project has been running for about 17 years now, off and on.

Artistic Director for the Theatre Project Dana Schmidt tells WesternSlopeNow doors at the art center will open at 7 p.m. to host a night of fun including local performers singing, food and cocktails.

She tells WesternSlopeNow the party should die down around 10:00 pm after the Manhattan Ball Drop.

Event Coordinator Dani James says Warehouse 2565 will have a celebration of its own including 12 DJs.

One of those DJs is Dillon James, who will also be running some brand-new lasers on the stage.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the DJs start at 7 p.m., followed by a cocktail hour.

James tells WesternSlopeNow to look out for some silk rope performers also making their way into the spotlight.

The party should come to an end around 1 a.m.

Over on Main Street, Freedom Institute and Street Royalty are celebrating a little bit differently thanks to Christopher Vigil's story … he was addicted to alcohol for 17 years before becoming sober 44 months ago.

To try and turn the tide, his party (from 7 p.m. until a little after midnight) will welcome anyone wanting to have a good time without the influence of substances.

There will also be a taco bar from 7 to 8 p.m.

After that, karaoke, then into some live music from various artists, including Vigil, who goes by "Hectik."

No matter where you end up when the ball drops, Happy New Year!
