Accident on Hwy 50 and 29 Road sends several to the hospital

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Two vehicles collided Thursday just after 3 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 50 and 29 Road.

A Volkswagen Jetta was traveling westbound on Highway 50 and entered the intersection at a red light. The car collided with a Mitsubishi Outlander, causing the Outlander to roll over onto its roof.

Inside the Jetta were two juvenile females from the Grand Junction area. The driver was taken to St. Mary's with serious injuries while the passenger remained unhurt.

In the Outlander was the driver, a 35-year-old Whitewater woman, with three passengers. The driver and one passenger were taken to Community Hospital with serious injuries. The two other passengers suffered moderate injuries.

The driver of the Jetta was cited for careless driving causing injury, no proof of insurance and no valid driver's license and was also issued a revocation for not having valid insurance.
