GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — The Food Bank of the Rockies is urgently seeking volunteers for its distribution center.
“With the holiday season behind us, we tend to see a dip in volunteerism. But food insecurity is at the highest level we’ve seen in years, so we greatly need support year-round, and especially right now, to ensure we can continue to support our community with nourishing meals,” said Sue Ellen Rodwick, director of the Western Slope Food Bank of the Rockies.
Community members can help with sorting and packing food, preparing snack packages for kids in need or distributing food at one of the food bank's mobile pantries.
Officials said in a release the Orchard Mesa mobile pantry needs volunteers to help with distribution from 3-6:15 p.m. on Jan. 13. For more volunteer opportunities and to sign up, visit the Western Slope Food Bank of the Rockies website.
