FRUITA, Colo. (KREX) - It looks like interim Fruita City Manager Shannon Vassen will have "interim" removed from his title.
Last week, Fruita City Council unanimously voted to offer the position permanently to Vassen. He previously served as Fruita assistant city manager, assistant to the Fruita city manager and management analyst for the city.
Vassen will take over the role after a contract is agreed upon by him and the city council.
Over 40 candidates applied for the position. According to a City of Fruita press release, the recruitment process was quite involved as the city council held several meetings over five days to allow for input and deliberation.
A Colorado Mesa graduate, Vassen also worked for the City and County of Denver and the Mesa County Department of Human Services.
