MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) — Mesa County Public Health issued a No Burn Advisory on Monday morning due to concerns about air quality.
The goal is to "maintain acceptable air quality in our area and help prevent additional pollution from going into the atmosphere," MCPH said in a release. Residents with wood-burning stoves or fireplaces are recommended to limit their use of them at this time. Officials also offer the following alternatives to burning while the advisory is in place:
- Compost leaves and grass clippings yourself; this can improve water retention in your yard or garden.
- Rent or borrow a wood chipper for your tree and shrub trimmings.
- Use the services at the Mesa County Organic Materials Facility.
The advisory will be in place from 10 a.m. until further notice. For the latest updates on air quality and whether it's safe to burn, visit Mesa County's website.
