GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Girl Scouts started making their own shortbread cookies in the 1920s and using the funds made from sales to finance camps, outdoor adventures, lessons and other activities scout troops may want to experience.

So far this year, Colorado Girl Scouts have sold more than 4 million packages with 135,000 of those in Mesa County alone.

WesternSlopeNow talked with Ashley Douglas, the regional manager of Girl Scouts of Colorado to learn more about the Girl Scout cookie program and what happens to any unsold packages.
