GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — The National Transportation Safety Board has released a preliminary report detailing what caused a Hawker 900XP to crash near the Colorado - Utah border on Feb. 7, killing both pilots on board.
The airplane was destroyed after reportedly entering a corkscrew mid-flight. The plane was reportedly planning to conduct a stall warning mid-flight.
Pilots Paul Michael Berliner and Darrin Du Ray Towe both died in the plane crash. The flight captain, Berliner was a Seattle-based pilot with decades of experience and more than 12,000 hours as a flight captain. Towe, Berliner's co-pilot was an avid sailor, adventurer and an award-winning athlete.
