Meth seized during GJ arrest

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — A man was arrested Wednesday morning for methamphetamine charges after he was found near a closed gas station holding a gas can and a stick.

Grand Junction Police officers found a suspicious man later to be determined 60-year-old Ben Otto standing near a closed Sinclair gas station on Independent Avenue at around 12:50 a.m. Wednesday morning. Officers contacted Otto because he was holding a five-gallon gas can and a stick, according to official reports.

Police soon learned Otto had an active warrant for his arrest and took him into custody. Officers discovered 32 grams of methamphetamine and arrested and remanded him to the Mesa County Detention Facility for intending to distribute and other methamphetamine charges.

This is an active police investigation with no further information available at this time.
