GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (KREX) — Voces Unidas is hosting a pro-immigrant rally in response to Garfield County declaring itself a non-sanctuary county.
The rally is scheduled for Sunday, March 10 at Sayre Park in Glenwood Springs, starting at 1:30 p.m.
On March 4, the Garfield County Board of Commissioners passed a anti-immigrant resolution that perpetuates harmful stereotypes that target our immigrant community. This is not reflective of our values as a commuity. Together, we can send a powerful statement and demonstrate to the commissioners that their politics are not acceptable.
Cruel and unjust policies have no place in the Roaring Fork Valley. We embrace diversity as our gratest asset and celebrate the cultures that enrich our community.
Join us this Sunday at 1:30 pm at Sayre Park in Glenwood Springs and let's stand united in support of all members of the community.

The Garfield County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution on Monday declaring the county a non-sanctuary city in response to misrepresentations online. County officials say their priority is the needs of their citizens.
“Garfield County supports legal immigration into the United States and recognizes the plight of those seeking refuge and asylum from oppressive governments in other parts of the world,” the resolution reads. “Garfield County does not have the resources or infrastructure to address the human needs it is currently facing, and community resources within Garfield County are strained by the population of unsheltered homeless individuals.”
