GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — A woman was arrested shortly after stealing a car on Wednesday.
Grand Junction Police and other law enforcement agencies responded to reports of a stolen vehicle shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday near the intersection of 25 Road and Welso Avenue. Officers identified the stolen car and stopped the driver, 37-year-old Ashley Stevens without further incident.
Stevens was remanded to the Mesa County Detention Facility for the following charges:
- 2nd Degree vehicle theft
- Felony eluding
The GJPD believes this to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the community. This is an active police investigation with no further information available at this time.
