MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) — The Jones Fire has nearly tripled as of 5 p.m. on Tuesday after reports Monday had the blaze at an estimated 80 acres.
According to the Upper Colorado River Interagency Fire Management Unit, the fire has grown to 215 acres. On the scene resources continue to hold and secure the perimeter of the blaze. An estimated 50% of the fire has been contained.
The fire is at the Black Ridge Wilderness of the McInnis National Conservation Area which is 7 miles south of I-70 and near the Colorado-Utah border.
