GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) – An upcoming class is geared to assist water customers and improve their resource management, according to the City of Grand Junction.
The city will host a turf conversion class will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 28, in the City Hall auditorium, 250 N. Fifth St. The city asks residents to register by the day before the class.
The course will also offer information on the city's turf conversion and other rebate programs.
There are two ways to qualify for the turf conversion program. The first is that applicants must be a City of Grand Junction water customer. Residential addresses can be checked here.
The other qualification says applicants must have living turf areas between 500 to 2,000 square feet in residential areas or 500 to 5,000 square feet in commercial or non-residential areas.
The city said in a press release that it has other rebate programs. One such is the water efficiency rebate program which includes repayments for water-saving appliances like toilets, washing machines, smart irrigation controllers, soil moisture sensors, rain sensors, high-efficiency rotor nozzles and tree drip irrigation kits.
“We are excited to offer the turf conversion and other rebates for city water users providing an opportunity to reduce water bills by converting high water use lawns to low or moderate watering landscape as well as employing other water saving methods,” City of Grand Utilities Director Randi Kim said. “By adapting our landscapes to our arid climate and replacing older appliances, we can help conserve our limited natural resources.”
